Dubbed ‘the Rembrandt of sports photography,’ Iooss was inducted into the Photography Hall of Fame in 2018. Iooss has photographed some of the most recognized athletes in sports history, including Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Serena Williams, Tiger Woods, and hundreds more. Widely viewed as one of the greatest sports photographers of our time, Walter Iooss, Jr.’s photos have graced the pages of Sports Illustrated, including more than 300 covers. “These photographers exemplify some of the best work being done in photography.” “The museum’s acquisition of Brian Lanker’s ‘I Dream a World: Portraits of Black Women Who Changed America’ photographs in 2019 opened the door to building a complete photography collection,” said Connie Gibbons, director of the Mulvane Art Museum. The Mulvane Art Museum currently houses more than 6,000 works of art in its collection and this donation further strengthens the works on paper portion of its holdings. The donation was facilitated by Summit Art Advisory (SSA), Kearny, N.J. – Washburn University’s Mulvane Art Museum is pleased to announce the recent donation of a significant collection of photographs featuring the works of ten photographers of note: Ralph Gibson, Larry Fink, Walter Iooss, Kristin Capp, Donna Ferrato, Joyce Tenneson, Sally Gall, Alan MacWeeney, David Seltzer and Raphael Mazzaco.
